On Wednesday afternoon we realised something, there is another group of people that use a significant amount of "working away" tools, travellers. So we set about looking at the types of travellers and the problems they face. A lot of the areas that have affected us being in unfamiliar territory are things like directions, finding services, staying in contact with friends and colleagues, taking photos and video of the experience. This is essentially true for most travellers including tourists and business people.
The morning was spent getting all my work out of the way. So off we go play tourist in lovely Byron. The first order of business was to find a tourist information centre, so I jumped on whereis mobile and immediately had a map and address of the closest information centre along with 3 other options. The tool of choice for getting there was Google maps in conjunction with the onboard GPS unit, which gave us directions, a map and tracked our position as we drove.
Following this little pattern we managed to find a great little surf shop where we got a surf board for $10 for three hours and headed to Tallows beach.
The end product being that when you are travelling you want to keep in contact with friends and family, find your way about, take some photos and maybe a bit of video. So wether you are a business person, tourist or professional traveller the i-mate certainly has a feature set that keeps you in touch and enjoying yourself.
