If you walked up to your boss right now and asked if you could work from home (or from a cafe) what do you think they would say? Would it be a flat out no? Would it be a provisional yes, or are they going to be happy to get you out of the office?

Unfortunately the answer won’t always have a lot to do with your own ability and reliability as an employee as there are a lot of misconceptions about what working out of the office is about. Before you can work out of the office you need to enable those who work with you to communicate with a remote worker otherwise it isn’t going to work.
