Well here I am in Byron Bay chillin’ with my peeps. Right now all the participants and the production crew are here hanging out having a few beers (life is tough).
Earlier a few of us were sitting around doing some quiet work after been disconnected from the Internet for over two whole hours. We finally plugged in and I thought I would show David and Michelle the WSYP video from Microsoft.
At the same time I started reading some of my blog comments and saw that I had been tagged by both Catherine and Frank with the white rabbit. It got me thinking about the role that Internet memes take in a virtual/remote workforce.
Unlike your traditional office environment there isn’t necessarily a set of common events that bind people together in a social atmosphere. Internet memes, especially ones that are well propagated serve as a common base for casual communication. You aren’t talking about who was seen with who in the supply closet anymore - instead you are talking about whether you have seen the latest Mac vs. PC advertisement on YouTube.
Anyway - gotta go, we are doing a bit of a hook up on what this week is going to be all about. Cheers.
