Heading to Byron Bay

It is 6 a.m. (Melbourne time) in the morning and I am sitting in the lounge room waiting for the car to arrive to take me to The Ultimate Escape. Earlier in the week the organisers of the event sent out mobile devices to the participants. I opted for the Ultimate 9502.

Whenever I get a new device I always go through a few days where I’m not entirely comfortable, then I start becoming a fan as I get used to its user interface and how it fits in my hand. It was really good that we managed to get our devices earlier in the week because I am now getting used to it.

Within about five minutes of having the device I had it sync’d up with the Exchange server at Readify and was sending and receiving e-mails. When the device arrived there was a SIM card with it which was attached to the Telstra Next-G network. I actually have a Next-G device already and I’ve been pretty impressed with the speed.

One thing that I haven’t managed to get working yet is the GPS receiver in the device. I haven’t devoted a lot of time to it yet, but if the problem persists I might need to resort to reading the manual (gasp!).

Finally - Michael Kordahi asked in a comment on my first blog post. I’ll see what I can do mate, just searching for my micro-SD card now so I can use it to record the media on.
