Hi there, my name is Mitch Denny. I’ve been lucky enough to be selected as one of the participants in “The Ultimate Escape“. If you want to know what I look like then check out the fantastic nostril shot up on the banner of the web-site (far left). It is actually a picture taken under a sculpture at Docklands in Melbourne.
Tamir Berkman from FRANk Media suggested that the participants log-in and share a little bit about ourselves. So here we go.
By trade I am a software developer living in Melbourne but my work sees me travelling for a fair bit of the year. As a result I guess I evolved into a bit of a road warrior coming to depend on mobile technology to stay connected. I put my hand up (vigorously!) for the opportunity to participate in the escape to Byron Bay because I firmly believe that mobility is the future of computing for work and play.
While we are there I think that Tamir has some activities planned for us, but we will actually be doing work during the week as well as enjoying the location. I’ve got a few personal goals for the week.
First off I want to get to know the other participants because if they are going then it means that they are the kind of people that “get” working away from the office.
Secondly I want to observe how others work remotely because at the moment I am in the midst of trying to get something off the ground where the entire team will work remotely except for perhaps the occasional face-to-face with a client to let them know we are real.
Thirdly - and finally I am really looking forward to playing with the new i-mate Ultimate devices (9502, 8502). I’ve had some serious gadget lust for these devices ever since they were announced a year or so ago and to finally get one in my greasy mitts is going to be fantastic. It is going to be fun seeing what evil I can get up to exploiting the integrated GPS on the device.
Anyway - that is enough from me (for now).
